What is your child doing in the classroom?
Look for activities a child can reach and use, and notice how they move between them. Ask how the materials change as children grow. In our Children’s House, for example, you might see a child use practical-life materials or number rods. In an infant room, the more useful question may be how a guide follows each baby’s needs. The exact activity you see will depend on the day.
What does the guide do while children work?
Watch whether the guide observes, offers a lesson, gives a child time to try and helps when needed. Ask how guides decide when to introduce a new material. Our curriculum page explains the Montessori approach at VAMA; a visit lets you see how it looks in a real room.
How does the school day fit your child and family?
- Which room suits your child’s age and current needs?
- How do guides share updates about care, rest and learning?
- Which attendance days and school hours are available for your child’s program?
- How do you handle closures and changes to the family schedule?
Bring the questions that matter most to your family. Listen for an answer that fits your child and ask a follow-up if something is unclear.
What tuition, availability and application steps should you confirm on a school tour?
Ask for current tuition, fees and availability, and what the next step would be if you decide to apply. A tour booking is a visit, not a reserved place. At VAMA, a member of administration shows families classrooms, introduces guides and talks about routines, programs, the calendar and tuition. Children are welcome to join the visit.
